Little Elbow Grease

The New Tile Foyer

Things really started to come together on the house.  We still had more tiles so I thought I’d layout a ceramic tile foyer.  No cutting of the tile, so it way pretty easy since the house sits on a concrete slab that was pretty level.  Basically you layout the foyer the way you want it, apply the tiles with thin set mortar, make sure the tiles are spaced evenly (use spacers for this) and level as best you can.  When dry, you mix up grout and spread it on top forcing it down in the crevices.  Wipe clean when dry and voila!  No problem really.  Good directions can be found on any DIY (do it yourself) website.  I like jobs like these because you can get a real sense of accomplishment in a short period of time and with relatively little effort.  For newbies to renovating, this is a great project to try.  If the house is not on a concrete slab, you will have to lay down a backerboard first, but, directions can be easily found online.
